The customer chose Sassafras based on its superior durability and rot resistance compared to Western Red Cedar, Doug Fir, and Redwood.
Sassafras in its natural state, starts off as a very faint brown and then quickly oxidizes, as seen in the pictures, to a mocha brown color. If left in the direct sunlight, within 12 months it will turn to a silvery patina.
