Black Locust Staves
Designed and built by Sebastian Parker Furniture Design, these three large exterior benches were created for the boardwalk of a new utility plant and office complex in Sunnyvale, CA. After a year of research and development, each bench was crafted using a welded aluminum frame covered with steam-bent Black Locust staves. The staves were joined using half-lap joinery and secured with stainless steel fasteners, resulting in a durable and sculptural installation.
