We had the pleasure of hosting a homeowner and builder from Grand Rapids, MI—not once, but twice—at our warehouse.
Andy first discovered Black Locust while researching durable alternatives after watching his existing deck deteriorate in Grand Rapids’ tough weather. Inspired by a visit to one of our early boardwalk projects along the Grand River, he designed his new deck using 100% Black Locust.
During his visits, Andy hand-selected every black locust piece—Posts, Glulams, Lumber, and 5/4 x 4 Decking.
As you can see in the photos—every board is carefully chosen and cut, every screw is perfectly aligned. It might be the most precise deck we have seen—and Andy is one of the kindest people we’ve had the chance to work with.
