Black Locust 5/4 X 4 Decking
As part of a major renovation at the iconic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Black Locust decking played a key role in enhancing one of the resort’s most cherished features: The Esther Williams Pool.
Led by the thoughtful design team at DTJ Design, the renovation respected the historic hourglass shape of the original pool while improving the surrounding topography. New parallel, curvilinear lounge terraces were introduced, providing guests with enhanced views of both the pool and the surrounding Straits of Mackinac.
Robi Decking’s Black Locust 5/4 X 4 Decking was selected for the poolside surfaces, offering a naturally durable, rot-resistant material that can withstand the demands of a high-traffic hospitality environment. Its rich color and fine grain complemented the refined aesthetic of the Grand Hotel, while also delivering long-term performance with minimal maintenance.
